Mille-Feuille Nabe Meal Prep

I was inspired by the idea of enjoying a light and healthy dish more often, but the thought of preparing all the ingredients each time felt like a daunting task. To make it easier, I decided to give meal prepping a try—and it turned out to be a fantastic solution!

Mille-Feuille Nabe is not only visually appealing, but it’s also a healthy and simple dish to prepare. Whether you're dining solo or entertaining guests, it fits perfectly into any occasion. Once you've prepped it, you're all set for those busy days or unexpected situations, allowing you to savor the wholesome flavors without the stress of last-minute cooking.

** Where did mil-feuille nabe originate?

Mil-feuille nabe originated in Japan, combining the concept of a hot pot with layered ingredients, inspired by the French mille-feuille pastry.

👩🏻‍🍳 Recipe

1. Trim the bottom of the napa cabbage. Layer cabbage, perilla leaves, and thinly sliced beef in that order, stacking them neatly. Then cut into sections.

2. Line the bottom of a freezer-safe container with mung bean sprouts.

3. Place the stacked cabbage, perilla, and beef sections upright around the edges of the container.

4. Add mushrooms to the center of the container.

5. Add 1 broth cube, 1 tbsp mirin, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp fish sauce, and 1 tsp minced garlic to the container, then freeze.

6. When ready to cook, place the frozen kit into a pot, add enough water to cover about two-thirds of the contents, then bring it to a boil.

7. Mix the sauce ingredients and use it as a dipping sauce for the nabe.

📌 Cooking Tips

• Using broth coin eliminates the need for additional seasonings while adding depth to the flavor.

• For a spicier sauce, add wasabi or mustard according to your preference.
