🌿 How I Kept Cilantro Fresh for a Whole Month

Yes—an entire month! And it still looks fantastic.

About a month ago, I tried a straightforward technique to keep cilantro fresh. Let me tell you… it was a tremendous success. 😆

If you cook with cilantro, you know how fast it can go bad. It’s not something we use daily, but when we do need it, we really need it, so I usually end up purchasing a bunch once or twice a month… only to discard half of it a few days later. 🙃

But this time? One month later, my cilantro is still fresh and vibrant. I couldn’t believe it either!

It’s such a simple method, and it genuinely works. You’ve got to try this at home!

  1. Find a tall glass jar

Choose a jar that’s big enough to hold the cilantro upright without bending the stems.

  1. Add water

Place the lid of the jar flat on the table, and set a small bowl filled with water on top of the lid.

  2. Stand the cilantro in the water

Gently place the cilantro into the bowl of water, standing the stems upright like a bouquet.

  3. Cover the jar

Carefully place the glass jar over the cilantro, enclosing it like a mini greenhouse.

I’ll be honest. Some leaves got a little soft over time, but most of it stayed incredibly fresh, even after a full month.

I was honestly amazed. I just wish I had known about this trick sooner—it would’ve saved me from throwing out so many herbs!

📍 Why it works: By covering the cilantro in a jar, you’re essentially creating a mini greenhouse. The moisture stays inside, and the air circulation is just right to keep the leaves hydrated without getting soggy. One month later, the cilantro was still vibrant, crisp, and full of life.
